Financial Seal vs. E-Signature: Which One for e-Invoice and e-Ledger?

Businesses moving to e-Invoice or e-Ledger often ask: "Do I need a financial seal or an e-signature?" Both are electronic certificates, but they serve different purposes.
E-signature
- Belongs to a person, issued to your Turkish ID number.
- Has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature under Law No. 5070.
- Used for e-Government, UYAP, EKAP, SGK, KEP and official correspondence. Sole proprietors can also use it for e-Invoice and e-Ledger.
Financial seal (mali mühür)
- Belongs to a legal entity, issued to the company's tax number by the Public Certification Center (Kamu SM).
- Works like the company's electronic stamp in Revenue Administration applications such as e-Invoice, e-Archive and e-Ledger.
Most companies have both: a financial seal for the company and an e-signature for the authorized person. We sell e-signatures, KEP addresses and timestamps; the financial seal is applied for through Kamu SM.
